Itinerary   -   5 days

Sail to the Isle of Arran Isle of Arran

Day 1   -    Arrive in Brodick after a 55 minute sail from Ardrossan.  Chill out and enjoy what this village has to offer.  Brodick Castle is a must and close by are Arran Aromatics and the Arran Brewery.  Brodick is very popular with day trippers and there are plenty of eateries to choose from.

Day 2   -   Brodick to Lochranza   -   15 miles

Isle of Arran
The road down to Lochranza.

Enjoy the 6 mile delightful coastal cycle to Sannox looking out for wildlife along the way.  Seals are a common sight, but don’t be fooled by the permanent fixture off the coast in Corrie! Corrie is a little gem, very popular with artists. After Sannox the road cuts inland over the Boguillie for 9 miles to Lochranza.  The scenery is outstanding and the long haul up the hill is easily endured by the reward of the close hand views of Arran’s mountainous terrain. Golden eagles are regularly spotted on this road. Lochranza itself is very picturesque with a stunning castle.   It is also home to the Arran Distillery which is well worth a visit.

Day 3   -   Lochranza to Blackwaterfoot   -   15 miles

Isle of Arran
Autumn Colours at Machrie

Cycling down the west coast of the island is a real joy. During the summer months dolphins and basking sharks are regularly spotted.  Not to be missed are Machrie Standing Stones a short walk from the road.  The village of Blackwaterfoot has a lovely sandy beach, perfect for a walk to loosen the muscles. It also boosts a very charming and unique 12 hole Golf Course.

Day 4   -   Blackwaterfoot to Whiting Bay   -   15 miles

Road to Corriecravie
The Road to Corriecravie.
Sanda and Kintyre
Sanda, Kintyre and the Antrim Hills.

The road from Blackwaterfoot to Corriecravie will not disappoint with views towards Ailsa Craig, the Mull of Kintyre, Sanda  and the Antrim Hills on Ireland.  There are a few surprises along this part of the cycle and Lagg is definitely one of them.  Enjoy a short walk down Lovers Lane to the cairn and take in this delightful southend scenery.  The road to Kildonan and Whiting Bay is hillier although the large seascape is well worth it with views over to the  Ayrshire and Galloway Hills and Pladda just situated off Kildonan's shore.  Kildonan is a haunt for seals and otters are making a welcome return. Whiting Bay is 4 miles further on and is one of the main villages on the island.  Holy Isle comes into sight for the first time. The village has some interesting shops and places to eat and a walk to Glenashdale Falls is highly recommended.

Day 5   -   Whiting Bay to Brodick   -   9 miles

Holy Isle
Holy Isle
Brodick Bay, Isle of Arran
Brodick Bay and Goatfell

As this is the short final stretch, perhaps the allure of Holy Isle will take a grip.  It is well worth the journey and the Buddhists that inhibit the island will make you most welcome. The small ferry that takes you to the island leaves from Lamlash.  The final stretch from Lamlash back to Brodick is 4 miles.

A full itinerary with further recommended excursions will be included with booking.
